Appreciation : 14th death anniversary of the late Sarath Ambepitiya

Fourteen years ago on this very day, we lost our dear friend and colleague, a High Court Judge of impeccable standing, Sarath Ambepitiya, under frighteningly tragic circumstances, which shook the entirety of the legal profession and the nation’s civil society.  

Sarath was a shining beacon in a legal framework that was battling to maintain its credibility. He stood firmly and fearlessly for everything that was fair and just and, paid dearly with his life for doing just that. We salute you Sarath in death, as much as we admired and respected you in life. We continue to share the intense pain and heartache that your dear wife, Vajira and son, Sithira, have endured since that fateful day in 2004.

May you attain Nirvana.
