On Friday, 5 August 2022, the Zionist regime raided a residential building in the besieged Gaza Strip with warplanes. As a result of this attack, Taysir al-Jabari, Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades commander in the Northern Gaza Strip along with many women and children martyred.
Hours after Israel pounded the enclave with missile strikes which was widely and unequivocally condemned by many countries and different figures, the Palestinian resistance movement in Gaza also fired rockets at predetermined targets after announcing the end to the truce.
On Sunday evening, Al Mayadeen’s sources confirmed that an agreement was reached on a ceasefire in Gaza Strip, fully agreeing to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s demands. These sources also confirmed to Al Mayadeen that Israel has accepted the draft formula suggested by the Egyptians in which they announced their commitment to work for the release of Bassam Al-Saadi, a prominent leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s movement, from the Zionist regime prisons.
Earlier, Hebrew sources announced, as a preliminary step, it was agreed that the ceasefire agreement can be extended from 10 p.m.
Followings are the preconditions put forward by Islamic Jihad:
1. Transferring of the prisoners on hunger strike to the hospital
2. The Egyptians are committed to release Bassam Al-Saadi, a prominent leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s movement who was recently arrested in the West Bank, within next two weeks
3. Reducing the blockade of the Gaza Strip
4. Supply of fuel to Gaza Strip
After the news of the withdrawal of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, this regime again turned to threats and the media affiliated to the regime quoted the Minister of War that after his meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Army, he ordered the continuation of the war.
Israel’s indiscriminate massacre of Palestinian children and helpless women is a violation of human rights and this regime must be held accountable to the world public opinion and the international organisations. By violating human rights and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and the siege of Gaza, Israel has made the Palestinian people live in the most difficult conditions the world has ever seen. Now, this regime is aggressively killing the oppressed and defenceless people of Gaza.
The killing of Muslims, homeless women and children comes only from Israel, and the world must blame Israel for its actions. Israel’s military aggression against Gaza is a war crime and, as a result, this regime’s officials must be held accountable for their aggressive and criminal actions in a court of Justice. The judicial authorities have the duty to address and investigate the issue of Israel’s military aggression in Gaza, and reprimand and admonish the perpetrators.
If Israel is not condemned and reprimanded for its violence, it will continue its criminal acts, and this issue can engender more violence in the international system.
