The media in Sri Lanka are misled into believing that Dr. Subramaniam Swamy is a very important person in Indian politics. He was a minister in the LK Advani government 25 years ago. Today he is a nobody.

He is the head of a political party that supports the BJP. His party has no representation in the Lok Sabha. Just like the LSSP and CP in Sri Lanka. He contested from two constituencies and lost in both. In October 2021 he was removed from the national executive committee of the BJP for being critical of Modi. Modi is not likely to take him seriously when he says India should give $ 10 billion to Sri Lanka.
