Open forum on ‘Peace Dividend: Are we realising the full potential?’ next week

An open forum titled ‘Peace dividend: Are we realising the full potential?’ organised by the Sri Lanka Economic Association, Colombo and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung will be held on Thursday 24 May from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Golden Pond, Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo 3.

Panellists will be Rohantha Athukorala, former Chairman of Export Development Board, Dr. M. Sarvanathan, Founder and Principal Researcher, Point Pedro Institute of Development, Dakshitha Thalgodapitiya, CEO and Secretary General, Chamber of Construction Industry, and Anushka Wijesinha, Research Economist, Institute of Policy Studies.

SLEA President Prof. A.D.V. de S. Indaratna will facilitate the discussion followed by an open forum. Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Resident Representative Bettina Meier will also speak.

The objective of the SLEA/FES Open Forum is to look at the opportunities that opened up by the end of the war, and examine why those opportunities could not be fully exploited and what were the constraints and the reasons for not being able to realise the full potential.

Those wishing to attend must apply for invitations either to the Economic Association at OPA or to the Friedrich Ebert Foundation at Adams Avenue, Colombo 4.
