PM must ensure a clean Cabinet

As per the article published in the Daily FT on 5 August on ‘Survey reveals RW favoured by all communities to be PM,’ most Sri Lankans are sure of the winning of PM Ranil Wickremesinghe with the hope that he will run the country in a way which will be favourable for all communities and to the entire country as a whole.

But the question arising in our minds is about the people who are going to get Cabinet and non- Cabinet portfolios. As far as the present Cabinet is concerned, we do not agree with some of the people who are given portfolios simply because we believe that they were unable to prove themselves as suitable people towards the ‘Yahapalana Government’ which was indirectly a damage to the UNP as well.

Dear PM, since we all expect country with good governance, freedom, peace, law and order which we experience right now, and we believe that you will become the l e ade r o f our nation, we urge you to be mindf u l wh e n appointing ministers and allocating portfolios because the entire country would want to see the right people in the right places.

Not only the ministers but also right people for the key positions are needed to make sure the smooth running of your new ‘yahapalana’ government as well. So that we should not leave room for anybody to draw the country back to the era which we hate by making even a single mistake when making decisions.
