Work unitedly to take forward the development plans – President

President Maithripala Sirisena has said that all the institutions, Ministers and MPs and officials, including Provincial Councils, Local Governments and the Urban Development Authority must work unitedly to implement the  proposals included in the Kandy city development plans by various institutions.

The president made these comments during the Kandy District Development Committee meeting held at the President’s House in Kandy yesterday.

Special attention of the President was drawn to the matter relating to the heavy traffic and the garbage problem in the Kandy city. Discussion also were held on issues  that were not included in the present proposals.

The President instructed the officials to start the finding lands to solve the existing matters and to use modern technological methods and to take steps to make people understand regarding the advantages of the project to avoid people’s objections in the process .

The administrative officers and people’s representatives of the district were briefed about the development programs of the new government.

Ministers Lakshman Kiriella, S.B. Dissanayake, Duminda Dissanayake, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Keheliya Rambukwella, Sarath Ekanayake, MPs and Local Government Ministers who represent the District, Secretary to the President, P.B Abeykoon, Additional Secretary to the President Rohana Keerthi Dissanayake and public servants participated in the meeting.
