Who takes responsibility in developing the standard of managers in Sri Lanka across all segments and fields? Management skills are broad… ranging from planning skills, analytical skills, decision making skills, leadership skills, execution skills, motivation skills, communication skills, social skills and a professional outlook to say the least. It’s hard to be a good all-round manager with just professional qualifications in a particular field; being an effective professional manager requires much more.
Every professional association has a purpose. I believe the most significant role of the management club is to uplift the standard of management is Sri Lanka. As such my executive committee and I have set the theme of The Management Club Mt. Lavinia to be a catalyst in uplifting the standard of Sri Lankan managers.
Free education has brought in equal opportunity and as a nation we see people from all walks of life emerging as leaders and managers, arising out of their own hard work and commitment. As inspiring as their stories are, there is emerging need to build up their professionalism and all-round capability.
As a Management Club we represent the managers of Sri Lanka across all industries and fields of management and having with us a professional membership of well-accomplished managers, we could we be the beacon of light to help emerging managers in their professional journey.
TMC will be the place to reach when managers require management development and exposure to the experience of the senior managers of Sri Lanka.
This year my committee and I will work towards organising a series of management development programs and workshops focusing on the different areas management development and also set the foundation for a Management Certification Program – ‘Certified Manager’. Furthermore we will have events that will help managers from different levels and backgrounds to meet fellowship, network and share experience.
My committee and I are excited by the possibilities before us to engage with managers all over Sri Lanka in accomplishing the goals for The Management Club Mt. Lavinia this year.
