The Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman organised a B2B meeting between Sri Lankan food sector companies and their counterparts from the Omani business community on 1 October at Al-Falaj Hotel in Muscat.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman O.L. Ameer Ajwad inaugurated the B2B Meeting. Members of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Eng. Redha Juma Al-Saleh and Ali Bin Hamdan al Ajmi attended the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Chairman of the Transport and Logistics Committee of OCCI Hamed Salim Said al Buwaiqi, Nasser Hilal al Siyabi of OCCI and Corporate Communications Manager Salim Saif al Abdali from Oman Food Investment Holding SAOC also participated during the event.
Addressing the business communities of the two countries, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman maintain historical trade relations and are well placed to complement each other in trade. Sri Lanka can be a pathway for Omani goods to enter South and Southeast Asian countries. In turn, Oman can be a gateway for Sri Lankan goods to enter North Africa and other GCC countries. To this end, as a first step, consumer food sector has been identified as a priority area for potential trade cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad further stated that the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman arranged the participation of 11 reputed Sri Lanka companies specialised in consumer food sector to showcase their products during the ‘Sri Lanka Week’ being held from 2-5 October at the popular hypermarket Carrefour Oman, organised by Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman in collaboration with Sri Lanka Export Development Board.
The 11 Sri Lankan food sector companies namely, TradLanka Agricultural Enterprises, Pioneer Tea Exports, Kandrick Tea Beverages Lanka, Ceylon Nutrinut Holdings Ltd., Nelna Agri Developments Ltd., Jagro Ltd., Nidro Supply Ltd., Eastern & Allied Agencies, Farms Pride Ltd., Stassen Exports Ltd., Possible Green Ltd., participated at the B2B meeting with their counterparts from the business community in Oman. More than 50 Omani food related companies had successful networking sessions with the visiting Sri Lankan companies and established business links.
SriLankan Airlines also had a promotional desk during the B2B networking session.
