TMC member Pubudu De Zoysa elected Rotary District Governor – Sri Lanka and Maldives 2022/23

The Management Club announces the recent election of its member Pubudu De Zoysa as Rotary District Governor – Sri Lanka and Maldives (2022/23). Pubudu De Zoysa is a Chartered Civil Engineer and indeed an accomplished professional with almost two decades of active involvement in Rotary.

She has been a member of the Rotary Club of Colombo since December 2010. Prior to that, she was a member of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, introduced to the Rotary movement by a very senior Rotarian, Past President Mohamed Adamally, and she served there for 10 years. She rose to become its President in 2007/08, winning more than 24 awards including Best Club President and Best Club. Over the years, she has won various other awards and accolades at the club, district and international levels. Known for her dedication and organisational skills, she has played a significant role in various significant Rotary projects and programs over the years.

As a professional, Pubudu has earned a reputation for her expertise in various aspects of business. Presently she is the Project Director – Global Fund (GFATM), Ministry of Health. University College Ratmalana (Ministry of Vocational and Skills Development), the University Grants Commission (Ministry of Higher Education), Sanken Lanka, GlaxoSmithKline, Holcim Lanka and Finco Engineering Sales are among the local corporate organisations, multinational and government institutions, she previously held top positions.

Pubudu also has impressive academic credentials. A past pupil of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda, graduated from the University of Moratuwa as a civil engineer, she went on to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colombo. She is also a passed finalist of CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK) and holds a Diploma from CIM (Chartered Institute of Management – UK).

Over the years, Pubudu has leveraged her strong analytical, project management, networking and communication skills to manage many Rotary’s national programs coordinating with many international and local partners. These have ranged in areas from health and education to infrastructure development. She was the Rotary District coordinator for Rotary’s Schools reawakening programs and was responsible for setting up of two schools in Ambalangoda and Beruwala post Tsunami period, during 2005/06. 

Recently, she was actively involved in Rotary District COVID-19 committee, Rs. 120 million donation, to provide a fully automated PCR/Extraction system and various other equipment to the Medical Research Institute (MRI), which will greatly expedite the diagnosis of COVID-19 and also Rotary’s Cervical Cancer elimination, a joint project of Ministry of Health and Rotary Clubs of Colombo and Birmingham, Alabama USA.

Within the Rotary community in Sri Lanka, Pubudu is known for her excellent team member of multifaceted organisations/individuals and her strategic focus in getting things done efficiently and effectively is also noteworthy. Her various roles and responsibilities within those local and multinational organisations have given her much practical exposure and multi-disciplinary talents. She has also gained valuable insights by participating in several Rotary International conventions overseas and led the Rotary Group Study Exchange six-member team to Osaka, Japan in 2010. Currently she is the Rotary Foundation (of Rotary International) National Coordinator for Polio Plus Program, which she holds it as the consecutively for two years since 2019 July. 

Pubudu has provided leadership and been involved in many professional and social organisations. These include the MBA Alumni Association – University of Colombo as President and Trustee, the 80 Club as Lady Vice President, and Dharmasoka College (PPA) Colombo Branch as Vice President, member of Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC), Stroke Association and The Management Club (TMC) to name a few.

Pubudu is married to Krish Fernando, who returned to Sri Lanka after a long stay in the US and Canada and now works at the Sri Lanka Tourism. She has three siblings, her elder brother being a marine engineer, her sister a teacher and younger brother a businessman. Pubudu regards her late father Captain Senison De Zoysa as her role model, and her husband Krish, who has been very supportive in all her achievements, as her inspirational guiding light has won twice the Rotary District’s best spouse award in the years of 2014/15 and 2016/17.

Long inspired by Rotary’s spirit of serving humanity, Pubudu is ideally positioned for her future role as Rotary District Governor for Sri Lanka and Maldives.
