Abdulla International receives Silver Award for best exporter

For the fourth consecutive year, Abdulla International has won the Silver Award for Best Exporter under the Industry Sector for the year 2012.
This award which is meted out by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka is a prestigious one, more so due to the fact that Abdulla International is the only paper sack company in Sri Lanka to receive this award.
Abdulla International is a leading paper sack supplier for both local as well as international markets for the bulk tea exporters as well as the desiccated coconut and cement industries.
The company was assessed for its export performance of paper sack as well as other products.
Since 1960, The Abdulla Group of companies has grown steadily and built up a reputation for producing reliable paper products of innovative design.
“We are in the business of providing paper packaging solutions for all industrial and export requirements. Brown paper bags, exercise books and multiwall paper sacks for packing of cement, tea, milk powder, carbon and desiccated coconut, form the main product portfolio of The Abdulla Group,” said Chairman Abdulla Hilru Mohamed.
“Over the years we have earned a reputation of providing high-performing products. This was achieved by controlling all aspects of the development process, including design, in-house manufacturing and regular testing. Quality assurance has always been the watchword of our manufacturing process. Our quality control system includes 100% functional testing for every product. Our products are designed to help our customers reduce costs, lower risk and grow revenues,” Mohamed added.
The company’s production is mainly done, in a state of the art manufacturing facility, close to the Colombo Port, using a German made Universal Tuber (Gartemen & Hollman) and Universal Bottomer (Windmoller & Hoilstcher), which are capable of producing two million paper sacks per month, on a single shift.
“This gives us a distinct advantage in many ways”, said Managing Director Abdulla Seyed Ariff Refaideen.
The company’s newly invented and patented double closure paper sack for Tea, has so far won numerous awards, namely the ‘World Star 2007’ award by the World Packaging Organisation in Sweden, the ‘Asian Star 2007’ award by the Asian Packaging Federation in Singapore, the ‘Lanka Star 2007’ Gold award by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging and the ‘Silver Award 2009’ for Export Performance in the Year 2009 by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.
The company’s product range includes multiwall paper sacks for tea, desiccated coconut, milk powder, cement etc. under the brand name “AB SACK” and the company’s products provide total paper sack solutions. They also manufacture exercise books under the brand name ‘Amazon’.
Abdulla International is a ISO 22000, HACCP, ISO 9001 certified company.
“Our products are currently exported to most parts of the world and our vision is to be the leading paper sack supplier to the food and non food industry in the world,” said Chairman Hilru Mohamed on receiving the company’s latest award.
