Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, announced its appointment as the corporate co-sponsor of The Management Club (TMC) and partial sponsor of the Enable the Disabled Diri Jaya Awards 2012 for a period of three years.
The Management Club was established in 2002 on the initiative of the Sri Lanka branch of the Chartered Management Institute UK with the primary intention of providing professional managers in Sri Lanka an opportunity to meet, greet and interact and share their experiences and knowledge for mutual benefit.
The club with its unique concept is the only one of its kind in Sri Lanka and commenced operations at Galle Face Hotel and today has operations in Colombo – Excel World, Mt. Lavinia – Berjaya Mount Royal Hotel, Camelot Beach Hotel in Negombo, Hotel Hibiscus in Kalutara as well as Mahaweli Reach Hotel in Kandy.
The Diri Jaya Awards was initiated under the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of TMC in November 2012 to make Sri Lanka a disabled-friendly nation by creating awareness of the plight of the disabled in the country and to facilitate equal opportunities for them. The awards ceremony seeks to bring recognition to the disabled achievers in the island.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Airtel Lanka CEO/Managing Director Suren Goonewardene said: “Through this partnership we hope to provide support and encouragement to TMC in their endeavour to uplift management practices in the country by empowering managers. The Diri Jaya awards are the first of its kind anywhere in the world and we couldn’t be more proud to step in and partner such a noteworthy national event.”
