All faith religious ceremonies to mark Sri Lanka’s Independence Day

Sri Lanka will celebrate the country’s 66th Independence Day on 4 February with all faith religious ceremonies.
This year, the main Independence Day celebrations will be held in Kegalle under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
All faith religious observances will be held in Kegalle district to mark the National Day.
Arrangements have been made to hold religious functions tomorrow morning at several religious sites in Kegalle.
Accordingly, Buddhist religious observances will be held at Wewaladeniya Temple while Hindu religious observances will be held at Kadirawelaudam Kalie Kovil. Muslim religious observances will be held at Muhiyaddeen Jumma Mosque. Catholic religious observances will be held at St.Marry’s Church while Christian religious observances will be held at Sri Lanka Christian Reformist Assembly in Meepitiya.
In addition to the religious ceremonies, a colorful military parade of the tri-forces comprising 1,400 Army Officers, 250 Naval Officers, 250 Air Force Officers, 250 Police Officers, 250 Members of the Civil Defence Force, 325 Cadets of the National Cadets Force and 300 Members of the National Youth Corps will be a highlight of the event.
The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs has instructed all Government departments and state institutions to hoist the national flag in their buildings tomorrow and the day after, and illuminate and decorate the buildings.
