Alumex Group is the premier manufacturer of aluminium extrusions in Sri Lanka. Established in 1998, Alumex boasts of over 25 years of providing high quality aluminium based products to the Sri Lankan market.
Alumex is a subsidiary of the Hayleys Group which is one of the largest diversified multinational conglomerates in Sri Lanka. Alumex is therefore backed by the manufacturing expertise of Hayleys and by its own highly trained and experienced staff with over 25 years in the aluminium industry.
The company has innovative aluminium extrusions for the architectural, commercial and engineering industries and also does designs and manufactures profiles to suit specific customer needs. Alumex is an ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer and all its products conforms to international standards.
The manufacturing process at Alumex has facilities for melting, extruding, anodising and powder coating of commercial and architectural aluminium profiles. It also has a fully equipped, modern wood finishing facility and is Sri Lanka’s only aluminium manufacturer with in-house die manufacturing capability that uses state-of-the art CNC machinery, and CAD/CAM technology for die designing and manufacturing as per the requirements of its customers.
All the raw materials used in the process are from world-renowned manufacturers in the UAE, Germany and France. Alumex manufactures architectural profiles for partitions, sliding doors and windows, curtain walls and swing doors and also manufactures specialised profiles for roller shutters, ladders, hand rails and display units. Alumex is the only company that is licensed to manufacture tested aluminium proprietary systems for AluK of Italy and Fletcher Aluminium of New Zealand.
The company’s vision is to be the premier aluminium extrusion manufacturer in the South Asian Region. In attaining its vision, Alumex also places great emphasis on being an environmentally friendly and socially responsible organisation. It is committed to protecting the environment by constantly monitoring employee health and safety, atmospheric emissions, waste water effluents and solid waste generated by the manufacturing process and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition the company uses eco-friendly chemicals in every process at Alumex.
As a way of giving back to society, Alumex also conducts fabricator training courses in its fully equipped training school at Makola in order to propagate the usage of aluminium in building construction work. These courses are conducted free of charge by well experienced staffs that are fully conversant with the trade.
Alumex has conducted training for over 2,000 participants and at present has exclusively signed up with the Vocational Training Institute to conduct the level 3 fabricator training programs in five centres in the Northern Province (Jaffna, Vauniya, Kilinocchi, Mannar and Mullaitivu) and in Galle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Ratmalana.
Alumex products are available through an island wide distribution network in Sri Lanka consisting of 57 dealers and five Alumex distribution centres in Makola, Kotte, Jaffna, Anuradhapura and Ratnapura. The Group is planning to add four more distribution centres to this network in the near future.
Alumex also prides itself on providing superior after-sales service and support. Customers can benefit from site visits, on-site training and troubleshooting as and when required. All their products are provided with warranties with periods up to 10 years.
With the rapid growth in the construction industry, Alumex has seen a considerable increase in demand for the products they manufacture. With the influx of high-rise constructions, aluminium extrusions have become an invaluable product mainly due to its ability to substitute timber based products.
