Build SL 2016, the premier housing and construction expo, a must-see for all house builders, people engaged in construction industry related work and students, will be declared open by Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa at 10 a.m. on 13 May at the BMICH.
Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Media Gayantha Karunatilleke and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva will be the Guests of Honour.
This housing and construction exhibition, which is being held for the 12th consecutive year, is organised by the Chamber of Construction Industry Sri Lanka, as the apex representative body of all the stakeholders recognised by the Government, that include architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, town planners, land surveyors, valuers, interior designers, contractors, builders, materials manufactures and suppliers and machinery and equipment suppliers. The Chamber comprises 11 professional institutions and trade associations relevant to the construction industry.
The exhibition this year is organised on a very grand scale with over 300 stalls and the participation of business entities from India, China Malaysia, Italy and USA. It will be a grand exposition of products, services, new technology, innovations and training opportunities from the establishments representing all the segments of the construction industry.
The composition of the exhibition comprises the following segments:
Visitors to the exhibition will have many surprises in prizes from raffle draws including overseas holiday package, weekend holiday in a beach resort, dinner for two at a four or five star hotel, insurance policies, mobile phones, etc. and big discounts at several stalls.
Time spent visiting will be an invaluable experience to house builders, construction industry professionals, service providers and suppliers and those aspiring to be engaged in this vital industry contributing approximately 10% to the national economy.
A major attraction at the exhibition this year will be the large and very impressive stall of the Sri Lanka Army Engineering Regiments representing Sri Lanka Army Engineers, Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and Sri Lanka Army Engineering Services displaying their products, services and contribution to the separatist war. Methods used in detecting and clearing of land mines and disposing bombs will be a novel experience to many visitors.
The Build SL 2016 Expo will be open to the public from 12 noon on 13 May and will continue until 8 p.m. On 14 and 15 May the exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
