Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, the pre eminent marketer of leading lubricant brands Caltex, Havoline, Delo and Lanka, has embarked on a mega health camp series for the residents in major coastline areas in the North, East and South regions of the country. The first medical camp sponsored by Caltex this year was recently held in Beruwala at the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour.

The health camp series will entail onsite treatment and examination by reputed doctors for general ailments as well as screening for diabetes. Chevron will also donate all the necessary medicines and resources required for this health camp. A special unit has been mobilised by Chevron to implement and monitor the health camp series successfully; reiterating the company’s concerted efforts in promoting exceptional standards in Health, Environment and Safety.

“There is a substantial contribution coming from the fisheries sector to Sri Lanka’s macro and micro economy. The sector plays a significant role considering that Sri Lanka is a country surrounded by water, where fish as a commodity has created a massive demand and stable source of income for those whose livelihood depends on it,” commented Chevron Lubricants Managing Director/CEO Kishu Gomes.

Under the program, Chevron will sponsor a number of similar programs around the country providing free medical assistance and advice to members of the fisheries community and their families. These programs will be coordinated together with the Lions Club representing the respective Districts.  Chevron has always been an active promoter and advocate on Health, Environment and Safety. Prior to this, the company has held several regional and national clinics for poor and underprivileged communities.

For Chevron, CSR has long been part of the organisation’s values and the way it operates. As a socially responsible organisation, Chevron is committed to contributing to social and economic development through its numerous projects in the community; which includes the recent road safety awareness campaign to reduce road accident deaths in the country. Chevron has also been associated with numerous social responsibility projects within the deaf and blind community of Sri Lanka for many years.

According to the organisation, community partnerships and being socially responsible are fundamental to the broader success of the business as they assist in ways that help stimulate economic growth and enable communities to prosper.
