Chryso Lanka, one of Sri Lanka’s leading admixture suppliers has recently extended its support to the Ready-mix Concrete industry by hosting a training program on ‘Quality Concrete & Related Field Practices’. The program was conducted by Chryso’s international concrete experts, Dr. Laurent Bonafous, Technical Development Director and Chadi Chahine, General Manager R&D Middle East.
The objective of the training program was to help QC laboratory and field technicians to develop their knowledge and skills on the accurate methods of testing and evaluating concrete performances. Various topics like general principles of concrete mix designs, raw material testing and evaluation, understanding the properties of fresh and hardened concrete, concrete specifications, codes and standards and the importance of quality control were covered.
Live demonstration trials and practical assessments were also conducted to ensure that the technicians were well aware of the proper testing methods for measuring and assessing all aspects of the fresh and hardened concrete properties including casting of cubes and cylinders for strength and durability testing.
The highlight of the event was the discussions and live demonstration trials on ‘troubleshooting and how to read the concrete’. Among the representatives that attended were technicians and engineers from various Ready-mix producers like Tokyo Supermix, Access Engineering, Maga Readymix, ICC, ELS, Supreme Ready-mix just to name a few. Also attending were representatives, engineers and technical staff from Indo-Ocean Developers and Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering and Construction Company, who are currently building the tallest residential tower in Colombo, namely the iconic Altair Project.
Chryso Lanka Managing Director Ebrahim Seedat explains, “It is extremely exciting and rewarding to have these training programs in order to educate and refresh the practitioner’s knowledge and understanding on concrete technology. With the challenges being faced in the industry today, we were delighted in having the opportunity to assist the technicians who are working closely with concrete on a daily basis to understand and identify the common problems and challenges being faced and how to address and tackle these issues.”
Ebrahim further adds, “In an effort to offer the total solutions to the local industry, CHRYSO aims in helping Building and Civil Engineering companies, Cement manufacturers, Ready-mix and Precast manufacturers to achieve high quality cement and concrete products.” For over 70 years, CHRYSO has been developing expertise and know-how in the design and formulation of admixtures – becoming a well-established and recognised global brand for quality, trust and innovation.
