CMI Sri Lanka’s inaugural Management Quiz a resounding success

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK Sri Lanka branch successfully conducted their inaugural Management Quiz on Sunday 21 September at the Hilton Colombo Residences.
A total of 31 teams took part in this quiz for which all questions were compiled by International Quizzing Associations’ Country Representative for Sri Lanka, Ruwan Senanayake. The questions included some visuals and video clips too making it an interesting experience even to those who were there to witness the event though they were not taking part in the quiz.
An independent team led by Vindana Ariyawansa emerged the overall winners and were presented the CMI Management Trophy, certificates and a cash award of Rs. 150,000.
The second placed team was captained by Indika Jayasinghe and they also received an attractive trophy, certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 100,000.
After a battle between three teams for the third place in a tie breaker round of questions, Dialog Axiata A team led by Mohomed Rikaz emerged victorious and they were also the best mercantile sector team out of 13 teams that represented their respective companies.
The other mercantile sector teams that took part were from IFS, 99 X Technology, KPMG, Ceylon Tobacco, Sri Lankan Airlines, Hemas Holdings, Fonterra, Copal Amba, Prudential Shipping, SAGT and Diaolg both fielding two teams each.
There were 10 teams from the banking sector who competed in this quiz and the Peoples Bank team lead by Pulasthi Gunasekera emerged as the best among them. Teams from other banks that took part were from Seylan, Amana, Pan Asia, and HNB, Bank of Ceylon and Standard Chartered fielding two teams each.
Dilaog Enterprise was the Platinum sponsor for this quiz which was supported by Prudential Shipping Lines as the Gold Sponsor while ICBT Campus joined hands with the event as the Silver Sponsor.
Daily FT supported CMI Sri Lanka Branch as their Print Media Partner and Helanka Vacations were the Event Management Partners.
