Diamond International Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., a rapidly growing export company headquartered in Sri Lanka and spearheaded by Lalith De Silva, is an organization that has handled a sizable amount of exports on a regular basis. The products consist of oil seeds, essential oils and spices grown in the rural sector and due to the success of these exports, the company has been bestowed with the illustrious Silver Award for their outstanding export performance for the year 2011 at the 20 Annual National Chamber of Exports (NCE) Exports Awards.
The award was presented to Saman Gamage – Manager Operations – Diamond International Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. by Abhaya Amaradasa – General Manager – The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (Principal sponsor) of the event.
The award received under the Export and Agriculture Bulk Sector (Small category) was presented at the 20th NCE Export Awards at the Colombo Hilton on 21st September 2012, and undeniably stands testimony to the noteworthy growth that the company has attained over the years. This success has been mainly due to the good local supplier network which has resulted in the satisfaction of its overseas clientele.
The recipient of the much-coveted award Lalith De Silva, Director speaking to the press said, “Our vision at Diamond is to take the rural dry zone agro products to the international market and we are happy of our achievement in finding markets in 10 countries. We are extremely proud that we have been able to contribute to the rural agro sector by increasing the incomes of our farmers and connecting them to international markets. DIL has broad-based its product range and offers oil seeds, essential oil, coir brushes and coco peat blocks from rural Sri Lanka, having acquired a regular set of customers mainly from Eastern Asia presently. For me personally and for the company, it is a great honor, as we bagged the Silver award for the second consecutive year.”
Diamond International has been in the business of trading for the past four years and has just re-established its export department with a view to promote its range of innovative items such as oil seeds, essential oils and spices of different varieties to a cross section of the international market. The company is determined in the current year to locate more countries to increase its exports and thereby contribute to the national export goals and spin off benefits to the rural community of Sri Lanka.
