With the increasing trend towards high rise buildings, Dulux offers an ideal coating to protect their interior and exterior walls. ‘Dulux Speed Prime and Seal,’ as the name suggests, is a new high performance exterior coating.

“This new product provides unsurpassed levels of protection for walls from alkali attacks and water penetration,” a spokesman for Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., distributors of Dulux paint, said.

He added that extensive research has gone into perfecting the product, which has proved that it is the best for the protection of walls, particularly for new buildings.

This water-based product is specially formulated for early application on plastered masonry walls to protect the top coat from discoloration/staining due to alkali attacks. It helps to eliminate water penetration and counter attacks fungal and algae formation. Once ‘Dulux Speed Prime and Seal’ is applied on a wall, it increases the coverage of the top coat (Weathershield/Pentalite) by 30%.

Pointing out that ‘Dulux Speed Prime & Seal’ is the ultimate solution for the protection of wall surfaces, the spokesman said that if properly applied, it will be effective for at least seven years. Thus it will be a very cost-effective exercise to use the product.

He also explained that a five coat system can be applied for exterior walls using Dulux Weathershield and ‘Speed Prime & Seal’. It comprises one coat of new ‘Dulux Weathershield Prime and Seal,’ two coats of Crack-Bridging Wall Primer – a premier quality waterborne primer – and two coats of Weathershield Extra.

Adding that there are additional benefits in using ‘Dulux Speed Prime & Seal,’ he pointed out that it would protect the top coat from discoloration due to alkali attacks, eliminate water penetration and dampness and increase the top coat coverage by 30%.
