An emission test comes once a year, like a birthday, when the revenue licence needs renewing. However, some smart motorists are using it to improve engine efficiency and raking in substantial savings in fuel costs.

“An accurate emission test coupled with an estimated fuel wastage report and simple maintenance procedure can help motorists rake up substantial savings on fuel,” DriveGreen Senior Operations Manager Surendra Perera said.

The company, CleanCo., one of two licensed concessionaries, operates a network of DriveGreen emission testing centres that span the island. In addition to accurately testing emissions, DriveGreen, which recently upgraded its emission testing centres at Anuradhapura, Daladagama, Digana and Minuwangoda, provides several other reports as well as guidance on vehicle maintenance free of charge.

These attractive value additions make emission testing with DriveGreen a rewarding experience instead of a mundane chore.

The report on estimated fuel wastage due to poor engine efficiency has created vast interest among motorists and vehicle owners. The report estimates wastage as cost per litre measuring engine efficiency as a percentage based on tests conducted at high and low RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) levels.

Customers can take corrective action based on actual findings and reduce fuel and maintenance costs. The customer can make regular emission testing a smart proposition, helping them save as much as 30% of fuel costs while complying with the law.

“To many, the estimated fuel wastage report based on emission testing is a startling eye opener. In fact, motorists immediately realise that by stopping wastage the savings they gain far exceed the cost of regular emission testing,” Perera confirmed.

Since DriveGreen emission testing centres also provide guidance and advice on simple maintenance procedures most of which motorists can carry out themselves, the savings could begin immediately.
