Commemorating Envir-onment Day 2013, Fashion Bug together with the Municipal Council of Kurunegala inaugurated the ‘Thuru Sahasak’ environmental program in line with the ‘Divi Neguma’ concept, distributing produce plants among 50 families in Kurunegala, embarking on a long term project to promote home gardening with the hope of building a self sufficient nation, one house at a time.

Commending Fashion Bug for partnering with the council in mobilising this timely concept for the first time in the island, setting an example for other corporates, Mayor of Kurunegala Municipal Council Gaminie Peramunage pledged his commitment to making the pilot project in Kurunegala a success that all the councils could draw inspiration from.

Contributing to the lakeside landscaping project, Fashion Bug also planted 20 fortifying palm trees along the beautiful banks of the Kurunegala Lake.

Fashion Bug is the largest retail fashion store in the island that is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and energy consumption as responsible corporate citizen. At the dawn 2011, the chain that boasts of 19 branches island-wide, implemented a series of energy saving and green processes that reduced its energy footprint by 30% by the end of the second quarter-2012.
