FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and the world’s largest express transportation company, last week announced the appointment of David J. Ross as Senior Vice President of Operations for FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa.
Ross will succeed Hamdi Osman, who retired from FedEx Express after more than 30 years of service, and will be based at the company’s Middle East headquarters in Dubai, UAE.
Ross began his career at FedEx Express back in 1992 in Sydney, Australia, managing the company’s ground operations until he was promoted to Managing Director of Australasia and the Pacific Islands in 1993. A year later Indonesia was added to his area of responsibilities. By November 1995, Ross moved on to take up the position of Managing Director for Hong Kong and Macau, one of the important districts for FedEx in Asia Pacific.
Having successfully developed operations there, he was appointed as Vice President of the North Pacific Region in September 1998, responsible for all corporate strategies and operations across Korea, Japan, Guam and Taiwan. In April 2005, Ross was appointed Regional Vice President of FedEx Express, South Pacific, based out of Singapore.
In April 2011, Ross was appointed as Vice President, Integration and Domestic Operations in India, another key region in the global FedEx network.
In his new capacity as Senior Vice President, he will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of FedEx Express operations in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa.
“David Ross’s proven leadership skills and broad business experience in the express transportation industry make him an excellent choice as the new Senior Vice President of Operations for this region”, said Gerald P. Leary as Regional President For Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.
