Sri Lankan private healthcare pioneer Nawaloka Hospital recently held a free-of-charge Mobile Health Camp (MHC) through its Serene Health Screening Centre for over 400 workers at a leading garment factory in the southern town of Horana.
A CSR initiative intended to create awareness for preventative health amongst those who typically cannot afford it, this free-of-charge, basic health check is usually only offered to low-income factory workers at companies that have made use of Nawaloka Hospital’s preventative health products in the past. Further, it tests for the more common Sri Lankan diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. It also included the taking of full medical histories of individual factory workers to determine and treat conditions specific to them. The MHC was carried out with the full participation of medical doctors, nurses, lab technicians and other professional medical support personnel.
Nawaloka Hospital, a long-time promoter of the use of preventative healthcare, especially in Sri Lanka’s corporate sector, offers comprehensive MHC packages starting from Rs. 4,100 per person through its Serene Health Screening Centre.
For this per-person fee, health checks are done by a full medical team, comprising doctors, nurses, lab technicians, mobile labs and ambulances, in numbers appropriate to facilitate speedy and thorough testing for the number of people being checked, which will visit the premises of any company, society, club, residential community and even religious group, in Colombo and outside, to perform routine testing that encompasses cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure as well as liver, kidney and thyroid functions. Additionally, because the testing is done at the premises of an organisation’s choosing, also on the day of its choice, there will be no loss of productivity.
At the same time, Nawaloka Hospital also offers individual health check packages, starting from Rs. 6,000, out of its dedicated fourth-floor Serene Health Screening Centre facility. These health checks are also further segmented to encompass preventative healthcare that is specific to senior citizens as well as others above, and even below, 40 years of age. Some packages also include breakfast and valets, for quicker and more personalised service overall geared to top corporate personnel.
