Frostaire, Sri Lanka’s leading provider of air conditioning and refrigeration solutions, celebrates 34 years of innovation and excellence in 2014. Founded in 1980, the company has grown to become a premier supplier of air conditioning and refrigeration products and solutions for both corporate and domestic customers, holding one of the largest installed bases of air conditioners in the country.
“After 34 years of serving the needs of the local market we are excited to face the next few decades with our strong product base and best-in-class customer service,” explained Mukthar Marikkar, Managing Director of Frostaire.
Frostaire began manufacturing its own air conditioning and refrigeration units in 1985, ensuring that its customers had accredited professional after-sales support right from inception. The company’s successful journey over the past three decades has been largely due to the range of premium quality products supplied and the unrivalled customer services offered.
Commenting on Frostaire’s core values, Marikkar explains: “At Frostaire, it is not just about our products, it is about honesty, reliability, ensuring customer satisfaction and developing long term customer relationships.”
Frostaire’s 250 plus strong team ranges from experienced sales staff who are equipped to advise customers on the most suitable products for their requirements, to skilled engineering staff who are well-versed in all technical aspects related to air conditioning and refrigeration.

This extensive product selection has the added advantage of the latest technologies and innovations including, strong dehumidification, plasma filters, air-quality detectors, auto restarts, and LED displays for convenience of use and healthier living.
Over the years Frostaire has expanded beyond air conditioning to offer a range of other cooling-related solutions. These include the supply and installation of refrigeration equipment including chilling plants, and freezers for dairy products, fruits, and frozen food. It also offers freezing tunnels, plate freezers, ice plants, cold rooms, and supermarket display cabinets along with cooled water dispensers, and is the supplier of the Frosty brand of ice, Sri Lanka’s first ever retail ice product.
The extensive services division of the company takes care of everything from repairing, servicing, and installing automobile air-conditioning units, freezer trucks, and ‘Thermo King’ refrigerated trucks, to repairing, maintaining and installing air conditioning units. It also operates a mobile unit for instant services.
A comprehensive customer care service is provided by the company’s corporate offices at Union Place, Colombo and its service centre in Welisara. Both locations have dehydrating and gas charging facilities along with spare parts and service units.
“At Frostaire, innovation is a cornerstone of our business,” Marikkar explained. “We therefore have a strong in-house Research and Development Unit equipped with cutting edge resources and technology. This includes a psychometric testing system to ensure our customers, both present and future, get the best in air cooling technology.”
The company’s investments in its product and services offering have paid off, and after three short decades, it counts several premier blue chip firms, five star hotels, food manufacturers, restaurants and offices amongst its customer base.
