Sri Lanka’s premier event organiser and Da’wah body As-Sunnah Trust’s Conference organised under the title ‘Seerathul Mustafa’ – The life story of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was held at the S.D.S. Jayasinghe Hall, Dehiwela recently. More than 900 people attended this event which was done in all three languages. Topics such as the Birth, Youth, Marriage, Meaning of Ummi Nabi (was our Prophet unaware to read and write?), Wafathun Nabi and How Mawlid is celebrated were discussed.
The lectures and discussions were done by local and international scholars. Al Aalim Al Hafil Abdul Qadir Mahlari from Kayalpatnam India was the key speaker who spoke on the birth, youth and wafath of the Prophet (May peace and blessings be upon him) which made it so emotional. Hafiz Moulavi Ehsan Qadiri explained to the audience with more than 12 references of the fact that our Prophet (May peace and blessings be upon him) was UMMI as in not unable to read and write but he was not seen reading and writing and was not tutored by anyone except Allah himself.
Hazrath Musnad Sufiyan Musthafavi spoke about how important is it to celebrate and talk about such important Meelad gatherings.
Asseyed Alavi Moulana Al Mursi touched on a very important social aspect of the Prophet’s (May peace and blessings be upon him) tradition regarding his marriage life and Ahmed Inthikab Naqshbandi presented a well researched work on the subject ‘Who celebrated Mawlid sheriff’. Indeed an event of this nature brought happiness and love for all and what a way to start this blessed month – Rabiul Awwal.
