India isn’t known for its beverages, and it certainly wasn’t known for producing quality sportsmen in the fifties or sixties. The Grover Vijay Amritraj Reserve collection easily and splendidly defies both. Vijay Amritraj, a sports icon and a tennis ace, ranked as one of Asia’s Number 1 players for the 14 years in the past paired up with Grover Zampa Vineyards to launch his signature in Sri Lanka following the worldwide launch which kicked off in London this year. The collection was launched last week at the Taj Samudra Hotel to a star-studded event which was graced by both connoisseurs and well-wishers. Inspired from Vijay Amritraj legendary feats and iconic style of play, the Grover Vijay Amritraj Collection exemplifies the finest India has to offer to the world. As inspiring as the man himself, the collection is inimitably diverse yet smooth to the palate and gracefully well rounded to deliver a rich experience of Indian terroir. Through his long and eventful career (which included leading India to the Davis cup final in 1974 and 1987), Amritraj always fancied having his own signature label. He worked along with Grover Zampa for two years to craft these. Grover Zampa is the first companies in India with Grover being the oldest and most reputed brand from India. Amritraj recently unveiled the Reserve Collection at a celebrity-packed Wimbledon themed party at St James’ Court, in London, in July this year. It is noteworthy to mention that Vijay Amritraj is also sports commentator and actor. He enjoyed a brief acting career, starring as M16 agent Vijay in the 1983 James Bond film ‘Octopussy’ and appearing as a starship captain in ‘Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home’. Vijay Amritraj presents the signature collection at a launch last week
