Hameedia Group pledges support for Earth Hour 2014

Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear specialist, pledged its support for Earth Hour 2014, the global initiative taking place today. Hameedia will commemorate Earth Hour at all outlets islandwide today, joining millions of people around the world as they switch off, reiterating their commitment towards preserving the planet.

In support of the initiative all Hameedia outlets across Sri Lanka will operate on 80% power saving mode for the hour. Hameedia has a history of being strong environmental advocates and thus promotes sustainable operations at all its outlets and production plants across the country. The Group implements measures to reduce energy by minimizing power consumption and using LED light bulbs across its operations. Hameedia’s also runs recycling units at all production plants in order to minimize wastage of materials and resources. Commenting on the importance of Earth Hour, Fouzul Hameed, Managing Director, Hameedia Group stated: “Hameedia is proud to join global efforts to support Earth Hour.
