Janashakthi partners Think Green to drive sustainability

In line with its commitment to eco-friendly business practices, Janashakthi Insurance partnered Think Green, a pioneer in driving sustainability and green business practices through safe and reliable electronic waste management in the country. Accordingly, Think Green will manage Janashakthi’s electronic waste and assist the company to adopt an environmentally sound business practice. “This partnership is another step forward in our sustainability drive. As a responsible insurer we are committed to implementing principles, policies, and practices that will have a positive impact on the environment and the community. Think Green gives us the opportunity to recycle our e-waste and reduce the company’s carbon footprint. Think Green offers electronic recycling, carbon management and recycling solutions to numerous corporates countrywide. Think Green has been approved by the Central Environment Authority of Sri Lanka and is an exporter, operating under the regulations of the UN based conventions for trans-boundary movement of hazardous content. Janashakthi’s environmental priorities are to reduce the impact of its operations on climate change and to conserve the environment by monitoring and reporting on the environment impact of its operations, services and these efforts to strive to include their customers and business partners where relevant and to the extent possible. “Championing sustainability allows businesses to align deeply with their mission and engage customers on a more meaningful level. As part of this, Janashakthi recently partnered Lanka Jalani – The Sri Lanka Water Partnership to fund the Ma Oya river catchment conservation project. Janashakthi is the only insurance company in Sri Lanka to register a record turnover of Rs. 3.1 billion premium income within the first 10 years of operation. Janashakthi Insurance recently achieved exceptional performance within the industry, recording its highest ever Profit After Tax (PAT) growth of 78% for the first six months ending 30 June 2013. In addition, Janashakthi’s contribution towards developing sustainable communities involves the flagship ‘Rural Athlete Sponsorship Program,’ which supports rural athletes from economically challenged backgrounds to reach new heights in their athletic careers.
