MAS Holdings, Sri Lanka’s apparel powerhouse is the principal partner for Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF), supporting the festival together with several other partners to show their continuous support to the Sri Lankan design and apparel industry. MAS has always gone towards change with steadfast courage, with a special focus on driving innovation, promoting sustainability and empowering women in design and related industries such as apparel.
MAS Chairman, Deshamanya Mahesh Amalean released an official statement on this partnership that aspires to drive innovation;
“MAS Holdings is an organization built on the premise of partnership, with a vision to Inspire, Innovate, Create Value and Respect Humanity. Our vision is powered by the belief that ‘Change is Courage’ and we remain committed to driving change across our industry. We believe that innovation will play a key role in defining the future of the apparel industry and MAS will be at the forefront of leading this transformation.
As both MAS and SLDF share the same view, we have come on board as the principal sponsor for the Sri Lanka Design Festival in its groundbreaking 5th year South Asian edition. MAS, together with SLDF, remain committed to positioning Sri Lanka as a ‘Game Changer’ and a Creative Hub within the South Asian region.”
Driving innovation in the sector of fashion, apparel and design, MAS has played a key role in bringing in world’s top innovators in fashion, lingerie design and apparel to lead a discussion from Sri Lanka. This ground-breaking discussion will lead from SLDF’s South Asian Apparel Leadership Forum that is creating massive interest among the apparel industry professionals in South Asia and abroad. Among the influential names in apparel innovation invited to the forum by MAS holdings, is Janie Schaffer, known as the ‘Knicker queen’ in international media for her expertise in lingerie design innovation and manufacture. Schaffer known to have revived Victoria’s Secret to its current status will be sharing her learnt in lessons in entrepreneurship and design at the forum. Schaffer’s insights will also be especially valuable for Sri Lanka’s aspiration to establish itself as the global lingerie hub.
Having identified sustainability as an unforfeitable feature in tomorrow’s world of fashion and apparel, MAS is also keen to drive the topic at the fashion runways and forums at the SLDF. The South Asian Sustainable Fashion Summit is one such event under SLDF which will pioneer a south Asian discussion on sustainability to the world at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
MAS Holdings, an avid supporter of women’s empowerment, has also touched many lives of working women through SLDF. In addition to the fashion designers and the thousands of apparel manufacturing industry employees whose efforts will be the highlight at SLDF fashion runways, MAS is also now powering many artisan lives in rural Sri Lanka through the sustainable fashion runway at the event which features fantastic collaborations between designers and artisans to produce contemporary craft led fashion.
MAS believes that the partnership with SLDF is an extension of its mission and vision to support sustainability, innovation and female empowerment and will be spearheading design led change for Sri Lanka with SLDF.
