Celebrity British Chef, known world over as the ‘Godfather of Modern Cooking’ Marco Pierre White is readying to bring his tour in Sri Lanka to a close with a grand finale later this week with the Cinnamon HSBC Marco Pierre White Challenge powered by Knorr.

While on tour in Sri Lanka, Marco Pierre White chose Cinnamon Grand for his stay in Colombo. Amidst his busy schedule, he spent time in the kitchen with his Executive Chef Andrew Bennett, prepping for the ‘Marco’s Great British Gala Dinner’ held last Friday at the Atrium, where he oversaw the preparation of the entire dinner that was made by Bennett.

Fascinated by the offerings of Cinnamon Grand, White also visited the hotel’s acclaimed village in the city, Nuga Gama where he learnt the art of local cooking from the ammés, who are acclaimed for making local authentic dishes based on recipes passed down from generations; and took a tour of the vegetable and spice gardens with the Village Headman Liyanage.

Hooked from the first bite; having enjoyed his first meal in the country at The Lagoon restaurant, White also visited The Lagoon restaurant at the Grand, to spend time with the chefs and F&B team to learn more about the concept. He hailed The Lagoon as ‘my favourite restaurant in the whole of Sri Lanka’.
