Originals Furniture recently celebrated its successful second anniversary in Sri Lanka by re-launching with a new range of exquisitely designed contemporary furniture and locally made home-accessories to bolster the existing mix of antique and contemporary items.  In addition, Originals Sri Lanka has forayed into the realm of sourcing and providing furniture for large projects and other developments both locally and regionally. Originals – Furniture for the Individual – originated in Singapore in 2003 and remains as a landmark furniture shop in Singapore. It was founded as an alternative to the prevailing trend of dark, dated, and heavy wood furniture, which was readily available in Asia at the time. This refreshing change in direction was seen to be able to make a change in Sri Lanka as well. Originals thus expanded its reach to Sri Lanka in order to cater to the growing economy and changing lifestyles. To celebrate its second anniversary in Sri Lanka, Originals is offering a 10% discount on the entire range of furniture – both contemporary and antique – until August 31st. The store, which already sells a blend of Indian antiques, Javanese teak furniture, and other contemporary designs from Belgium, France, and South Africa, has expanded its portfolio by undertaking its own product development in Sri Lanka, for both the Sri Lankan and Singaporean market. Look out for their new range of handloom throws, lamps, and other accessories. Originals sells contemporary tropical living and has taken into consideration their demographics and psychographics with a view to satisfy individual tastes and preferences. “Originals has begun to establish a manufacturing base in Sri Lanka for our contemporary furniture, we’d like to engage with the local industry as much as we can, I think there is a lot of potential to grow here and export to Singapore,” said Xenia Stafford, Managing Director. “Our locally manufactured range will cater to individual design requirements of home owners, hotels and villas…in addition, with our expansion into procurement and sourcing from international suppliers for projects of scale, we can cater to a bigger segment of the local market at a better price point.” The furniture range includes the natural teak wood furniture range from Ethnicraft, a Belgium based Company manufacturing in Indonesia, Vincent Sheppard Indoor and Outdoor quality furniture made from the famous Lloyd Loom wicker, a collection of rebuilt furniture in original designs from Rajasthan and Jaipur, India, known as India Recycled, antique teak with contemporary designs known as Java, upholstered furniture with exclusive high quality fabric from Designer Guild  UK and unique occasional chairs. A range of charming home accessories from Europe is also available at Originals. Originals is located at the trendy Park Street Mews within easy reach of its clientele in the heart of Colombo.
