WOOX Innovations, a subsidiary to the global Philips brand, on Tuesday introduced a range of audio entertainment products for the Sri Lankan market.
At a launch event held in Colombo, WOOX introduced a range of products including the Philips Fidelio HTL9100, the Blu-ray home theatre 5000 and 3000 series, the Nitro NX speaker range as well as the diverse Philips Headphones collection.
WOOX Innovations Market Leader APAC Jason Chang also announced that WOOX Innovations recently became a part of Gibson Brands, also known for its excellence in the field of music.
“We are excited to be connected with Gibson Brands, especially considering their history in music. Gibson has been associated with great musical acts including the likes of Eric Clapton and we too want to improve our profile in the music sector,” he stated.
He also announced WOOX Innovations’ collaboration with five-time World’s Best DJ winner, Armin Van Buuren on developing the A5 Pro DJ Headphones which he dubbed the ‘perfect DJ headphones’.
WOOX Innovations Director Sound and Acoustics Matthew Dore also spoke at the event, giving the audience a detailed tour of the unique ‘Golden Ears’ training program. Initially designed as a program to develop the listening skills of Sound Engineers at Philips’ audio innovation labs, the Golden Ears program is now available online and is the ideal workout for those who want to sharpen their listening skills to professional levels.
Dore stated that each product is sent through extensive blind testing, against competing products, by those who have completed the Golden Ears program.
“The product is approved for mass production only if it receives at least a 65% preference rating against the competing product,” he explained.
One of the highlighted products at the event was the Philips Fidelio HTL9100 soundbar with its detachable wireless side speakers, which serve as surround speakers when watching TV or listening to music. The battery-powered speakers automatically switch from virtual Surround Sound to a 5.1 channel Surround Sound when detached.
The Blu-ray home theatre (5.1 Ch) 5000 series was also launched at the event which, along with its wireless rear speakers, introduced the Miracast feature, allowing users to mirror their smart devices to their TV screens. The dual speaker NX9 was the featured product in the Philips NX speaker range which included the stand alone NX5 and the dual speaker set, NX7 as well.
Furthermore, Philips also launched an extensive collection of headphones geared to suit a host of needs. The Philips Fidelio range, the ‘CitiScape’ range and the ActionFit range of sports headphones were all featured at the event.
Awards were also handed out to some of the local partners of Philips, including Abans PLC, which received an award for the Best Sales in Home Theatre Systems. Singer PLC was awarded for Best Sales in Audio while K.A. Dinapala & Company received the award for Best Overall Growth.
