At its 2013 Southwest Asia Forum held in Hyderabad, India, recently, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. reinforced its technology leadership through the introduction of its new Smart TV line-up that responds to consumer demand for premium design, smarter features, superior picture quality, and larger screen sizes.
Regardless of consumers’ viewing preferences for LED or the innovative Ultra High Definition (UHD), Samsung’s 2013 Smart TVs allow users to enjoy a more seamless, integrated and immersive entertainment viewing experience.
Samsung also announced the expansion of its digital audio line-up for the Southwest Asia region, with new devices that easily turn any home entertainment setup into an optimal sound environment and feature a number of wireless connectivity enhancements.
“Picture quality, advanced features and modern design are all areas in which consumers are steadily demanding more from their TVs,” said B.D. Park, President and CEO, South West Asia, Samsung Electronics.
“We’re meeting these demands with our 2013 Smart TVs, which offer effortless, intuitive ways for consumers to discover and share more of the content they love. In combination with our Smart TVs, Samsung’s 2013 AV products deliver rich sound quality and connectivity options to create the ultimate home entertainment experience for consumers.”
Redesigned Smart Hub for the ultimate lean-back experience
Samsung is providing consumers with a simpler way to embrace the discovery of new content and experiences with a completely redesigned Smart Hub. The 2013 Smart Hub provides consumers with an easy way to organise and navigate personalised content through an updated interface and dynamic thumbnail previews within three newly-designed panels:
Apps: Easily access and edit downloaded Samsung Apps
Photos, Videos and Music: Access personal content stored on various AllShare devices in one place
Social: View popular video content shared across social channels
The new Apps panel of Samsung’s Smart Hub allows users to display up to 30 app icons on one page, which users can customise so that their favourite apps are easy to access. Combined with Samsung’s enhanced Motion Control – which allows users to swipe, pinch to zoom, or use a flip motion to easily move between Smart Hub panels – consumers can now navigate and control their TV like never before.
UHD TV – Ultimate blend of technology and craftsmanship
The stunning Timeless Gallery design of the new Samsung UHD TV 85S9 sets a new standard for the industry, revolutionising the conventional TV design aesthetic. The TV appears to be floating within its frame and showcases the juxtaposition of a classic, minimalist concept with a large, 85-inch display.
Samsung’s design concept includes its One Connect solution that eliminates cable clutter by requiring only one cable to connect the TV thus creating a perfect Clean Back look. The UHD TV’s larger screen size is part of Samsung’s efforts to meet consumer demand for larger-screen TVs – the fastest growing TV segment in the region.
In addition to the up-scaling engine, Samsung is addressing current conflicting UHD content industry standards in several other ways to ease purchasing concerns and to ensure that users will be able to view UHD content for years to come.
Rounding off the state-of-the-art 85S9 is an immersive audio experience to match its screen excellence, with 120-watt array speakers built seamlessly into the frame of the television.
LED TV – The brightest picture available
The F8000 reaffirms Samsung’s leadership in the LED Smart TV market by offering brighter, more vibrant pictures with richer colours, deeper black levels and higher contrasts. Its ultra-thin design profile and arc stand make the TV appear to be floating in the air.
The F8000 is also among Samsung’s first line of Smart TVs equipped with Intelligent Viewing, which creates an optimised picture quality dependent on the type of content, and a quad-core processor – making it even easier and faster for consumers to toggle between apps, online services and on-air TV. The F8000 will be available this year in 46”, 55” and 65” class screen sizes.
Also, the F8000 provides the advanced smart interaction that responds to your motion and voice in a more intuitive way making it easier for you to navigate and control your TV. With the newly improved smart interaction, users can now rotate images, or simply zoom in and out with two hands. Voice control capabilities have also been enhanced. Samsung Smart TV is now able to understand more than 300 commands with much better language recognition rates.
In addition, a new Smart Touch Control is provided with the Samsung’s new Smart TV. All the number keys have been replaced by a touch pad, on which users can simply write the channel number they want and flip and scroll the screen. It can also control devices made by other manufacturers through a very simple set-up.
ConnectShare Transfer – Content sharing made easier
Samsung’s F5100LED TV, available in the Southwest Asia region, provides easier connectivity options through its key feature – ConnectShare Transfer – which allows consumers to share content between devices via USB, eliminating the need for a computer. The F5100 offers two USB ports on the side of the TV to plug in pen drives, smartphones or other storage devices, resulting in a more convenient, and efficient home entertainment experience.
Samsung Evolution Kit – Delivering smart TV feature updates
Samsung is delivering on its promise to offer consumers a way to stay up-to-date with the latest technology. Available on select Series 7, 8 and I 2012 Smart TVs, the Evolution Kit provides both software and hardware updates that include access to the 2013 Smart Hub and other Smart features, and transforms the set’s dual-core CPU to quad-core, resulting in faster internal processing speeds. Samsung’s flagship 2013 Smart TVs will also be equipped with slots for future Evolution kits.
7.1 Channel Home Theater System – Brilliant unprecedented sound quality
Samsung’s HT-F9750W Home Theater System provides consumers with superior sound quality and a remarkable viewing experience comparable to that of a movie theater. The 1,330-watt sound system features a Gallium Nitride amplifier and vacuum tube pre-amplifier, which together create a pure, natural sound without distortion. The HT-F9750W also offers a Blu-ray component that allows users to run multiple apps at once for easier access to the latest Smart Hub and AllShare features. The home theater system’s powerful sound quality is matched with a premium, metallic finish that is the perfect complement to Samsung’s 2013 Smart TVs, including Samsung’s UHD TV.
Enhanced picture performance and speed
Samsung’s Premium Blu-ray Player (model BD-F7500) enhances the joy of watching your favourite movies by transforming ordinary SD and HD content into a superior resolution, such as that delivered by Ultra High Definition (UHD)-supported televisions. This slim player offers a dual-core processor and Samsung’s Smart TV technologies including Smart Hub and Allshare, so that users can enjoy unparalleled picture performance through an intuitive, streamlined user interface.
The BD-F7500 is an aesthetic study in black and silver, simultaneously modern, yet classic. Its minimalist high-gloss black finish contrasts with the unit’s aluminium trim, and complements the same design qualities found on many high-end flat-panel displays that feature black lacquered finishes set off by silver bezels.
The BD-F7500’s video processor includes a proprietary Samsung algorithm that improves the visual quality of block-based low bit-rate coded images and reduces blocking artifacts. This feature is especially important for maximising the visual quality of content streamed from the internet, as well as improving the quality of picture sharpness. Furthermore, the unit’s 900MHzx2 high-performance dual-core chipset boosts the unit’s image processing capacity so consumers can enjoy the highest picture quality and the fastest web-browsing speed.
