The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will hold a seminar on ‘Bilateral Trade between Russia and Sri Lanka’ on Wednesday 19 October 2011 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium, No. 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mw, and Colombo-10.
Ambassador of Russia Vladimir Mikhaylov will address the participants on current trend on trade and investment and opportunities for export/import and investment available in Russia for Sri Lankans.
Participants will also have an opportunity to interact with the senior officials of the Embassy to get first hand information on any trade and business related issues in doing business with Russia.
Presently Sri Lanka’s main exports to Russia comprise: tea, desiccated coconut, tyres and tubes, ceramic products, food, beverages and tobacco, crepe rubber and garments while black tea, coconut products, plastic, steel products, hats and headgear are among its main exports to Latvia.
Sri Lanka imports from Russia steel, ferrous metal wares, newsprint, asbestos, fertilisers, and electrical equipments for metallurgical works. There is also potential to increase Sri Lanka’s exports of fruits and vegetables, minerals, chemicals and apparels.
