‘Integrating Sri Lankan industries into the Indian supply chains’ a seminar organised by the Pathfinder Foundation (PF), an independent economic think-tank today at the BMICH from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The key note speaker of the seminar is a well known economist and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Colombo Dr. Sirimal Abeyratne. Hayleys Group Senior Economist Deshal De Mel and Deputy Chairman, the Pathfinder Foundation Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy will make their comments and observations.
The meeting will be chaired and moderated by Director General of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs Sumith Nakandala. The main presentation and the panel discussions will be followed by an open forum where participants have the opportunity to engage with the speaker and the panel.
Indian businesses in recent years have been growing at a remarkable pace. This growth and expansion should ideally bring fortunes for countries that are closer to the Indian market. The study, commissioned by the PF, has explored the pros and cons of existing links and possibilities for future integration into Indian supply chains. Prof. Abeyrante, looks at the current status of Sri Lankan industries with Indian supply chains and has identified existing constraints and opportunities for expansion of such relationships
The main objective of this seminar is to promote a dialog among the key stakeholders where by proper strategy will be formulated to address concerns of Sri Lankan industries.
