The BK AsiaPac Ltd. 2014 Asia Pacific Convention awards ceremony turned out to be a big night for Burger King Sri Lanka, with the country’s leading fast food restaurant walking away with the most celebrated awards of the evening. The 2014 convention took place at the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore from 21-23 October and was an unrivalled benchmark for excellence across the fast food industry, with awards conferring honor on those that deserve the highest recognition for representing the upper echelon of fast food restaurant operations. Softlogic Restaurants Ltd., the master franchisee for Burger King Sri Lanka, walked away with the most sought-after award of the night: ‘Best New Market in Restaurant Excellence’. This was selected from a quality field of seven new markets in the Asia Pacific region and the award was presented to the Softlogic Holdings PLC Chairman Ashok Pathirage, on behalf of Burger King Sri Lanka having achieved outstanding success in its first year of operation. “We are deeply honoured and humbled to receive this recognition from BK AsiaPac Ltd., particularly given the strength of the contenders in the Asia-Pacific region,” Pathirage said. “The team has worked tirelessly to achieve this honour and we are thrilled to have received it in such a short space of time.  For us this is an indication of the culture of Softlogic, and the passion and dedication with which we serve our customers. It also underscores our commitment towards becoming the best restaurant operator in the entire Asia-Pacific region.” This is a significantly impressive accomplishment for the Burger King Sri Lanka franchisee as it stands as a global symbol of achievement.  This is especially rewarding considering that Burger King Sri Lanka has pulled off the unprecedented feat of opening three outlets simultaneously at its inception, thereafter expanding to a total of five outlets within a mere eight months of operation. Moreover, they have managed to do so without any operational setbacks and by maintaining impeccable standards of health and safety while receiving glowing feedback from satisfied customers. Burger King Sri Lanka also took home the award for ‘Employee of the Year’ chosen from a field of 10 countries in the South and South East Asia division – including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand – all vying for this honour. The Burger King Sri Lanka Rajagiriya branch picked up top honours as the best operators in terms of maintaining excellent Burger King brand standards in quality of food, health and safety, restaurant management and achieving the highest customer feedback scores. Burger King Sri Lanka Rajagiriya restaurant Branch Manager Harshana Wanasinghe received the award from Adam Parkinson, Sr. Director Brand Standards, Quality Assurance, Training, Equipment and Construction, BK AsiaPac Ltd. “Attaining one of these coveted awards is indisputable evidence that Burger King Sri Lanka is capable of outperforming exceedingly strong contenders within the highly competitive markets in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Elias Diaz Sese, President, Burger King AsiaPac. “We are fortunate to have the entire Burger King Sri Lanka franchise team representing the brand.” The 2014-Asia Pacific convention also provided a unique opportunity and a perfect setting for delegates to connect one-to-one with peers in other markets in the Asia-Pacific region as well as share information and forge a common vision for the success and future of the Burger King brand. With distinguished speakers, including Burger King Worldwide CEO Daniel Schwartz, addressing the attendees on the topic of the conference ‘Profitability is King,’ the aim of the convention was to inspire profitably and highlight the importance of service excellence by delivering on the Burger King brand vision to become the most profitable QSR franchise business. The convention awards are unique to the Burger King system in its efforts to shine the spotlight on top performers in the Asia-Pacific region which include markets that are redefining excellence in service standards and driving the fast food industry forward.
