Making the determination of achieving a green solar energy lighted future Sri Lanka, JLanka Technologies partnered and sponsored the conference event titled ‘Towards a Greener Built Jaffna Through Sustainable Development,’ organised by Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB). The event was held at Tulip Hall, Green Grass Hotel, in parallel with Jaffna International Trade Fair 2016.

JLanka as the main sponsor came on board to the event ‘Towards a Greener Built Jaffna Through Sustainable Development’ as company that had distributed plants to all the participants of the event. Being the leading innovative solar solutions provider in the country, JLanka Technologies had set their footprint in Jaffna to rebuild Jaffna with latest innovative solar technology, since Jaffna is an old city that is trying to reposition itself after a 30-year war as a modern day cosmopolitan city in the world.

The event’s keynote address was delivered by veteran Eng. S. Suntharakumar, Deputy Director of Building (Northern Province) – CIOB titled ‘Sustainable Built Environment – World Scene’. Further address was delivered to the participants on ‘Realising Sustainability in Sri Lanka and CIOB-Green Mark Certification’ by Eng. N. Nantharupan, Managing Director of GreenArchi Engineering Consultant Ltd. The event also saw certificates being distributed to the participants.

JLanka’s Solar Technology’s presence in Jaffna further ensures that they no longer need to waste the solar power falling on their soil and while helping them to capitalise on it for their power consumption. The PERC technology of JLanka Solar Panels makes solar solutions more powerful and more suitable for local conditions than average solar panels or solar solutions available in the market. The company is also exploring possibilities of introducing new solar technologies to Jaffna including solar powered water pumps for agriculture and solar UPS to deal with frequent main grid power interruptions.

The largest exhibition and consumer fair in North, Jaffna International Trade Fair – JITF 2016 opened for the seventh consecutive time at the Municipal Grounds, Jaffna. The event was organised by the Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services Ltd. (LECS) together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) with the support of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB).

Over 300 companies participated at the event and the event witnessed trade delegations from Tamil Nadu, Vavuniya and Mannar Chambers with over 60,000 visitors. The exhibition featured the construction industry, hospitality industry, food, beverage and packing industry, automobile industry, ICT industry, financial services, apparel and textile, agricultural, consumer goods and many others, which was on show during the three days. The event was termed as the ‘Gateway to the North’.

Jaffna has the highest average temperature in Sri Lanka of 83 °F (28 °C). The temperature is highest in the months of April-May and August-September. The environment is ideal to production and manufacturing of solar power and people in Jaffna find that solar power solutions are more affordable and greener compared to the rising utility costs and longer time it had taken to electrify the peninsula. JLanka has established itself in Jaffna to help them light their city for their future growth with advanced next generation solar solutions.
