The Government has donated a consignment of Ceylon black tea to the victims of the recent earthquake in Yunnan Province, China.
The consignment of tea was handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing recently by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China, Ranjith Uyangoda to be distributed among the victims of the earthquake in Yunnan Province, the official website of the Data and Information Unit of the Presidential Secretariat said.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa sent a condolence message to Chinese President Xi Jinping in the immediate aftermath of last month’s earthquake.
At least 391 people have been killed, and 1,891 injured by the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck in the Yunnan province, southwestern China on 03 August.
