Sri Lanka, Pakistan agree to strengthen biz ties

President Maithripala Sirisena with Pakistan Minister for Commerce, Khurram Dastgir Khan   Attention has been drawn towards implementing a new program to strengthen economic ties between the business communities of Sri Lanka and Pakistan. When President Maithripala Sirisena met with Pakistan Minister for Commerce, Khurram Dastgir Khan for bilateral discussions today, focus was placed on the improvement of the two nations’ commercial partnership. The President and Commerce Minister emphasised the need to build a healthy relationship in the field of commerce and trade between the two nations. During this meeting, discussions were held to promote the naval relationship between both countries. Discussions focused on bolstering the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. The Pakistan Minister of Commerce pointed out that the opening of branches of Pakistani banks in Sri Lanka and the introduction of telecommunication facilities to Sri Lanka would broaden economic ties between the two countries.
