Subway opens its doors to public

Subway, the world renowned chain of restaurants widely popular for its signature submarines made its entry to the Sri Lankan market with the opening of the first Subway outlet at No 347, R A De Mel Mawatha, Kollupitiya on 12 August 2014. The restaurant officially opened its doors to the public at midday followed by an array of exciting events to mark the inception of its journey in the island nation. Starting from the 12th, Subway will be open to the public every day from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. The opening saw food lovers lined up in a long queue in front of the venue eagerly waiting to taste and enjoy the delicious meal options of the famed restaurant for the first time in Sri Lanka. To the delight of Sri Lankan Subway lovers, the restaurant also held a contest named ‘Split a Sub’ leading to the opening, where the winners were awarded free meals. The contest was hosted though the facebook event page of Subway Sri Lanka. The participants of ‘Split a Sub’ were asked to give an innovative and creative reason as to why they would choose to share a submarine with a friend and the selected winners won meal coupons for two with the chance of tasting delicious Subway goodies in Sri Lanka before anyone else. Coca Cola being the official beverage partner for the event had a photo booth set up, where customers who came to the restaurant at the opening day had the opportunity of creating a lasting memory for themselves as a souvenir of their participation in sharing the joy of the Subway’s entrance to Sri Lanka. This proved to be one an exciting experience for customers. Recognised worldwide for its fresh, delicious and healthy meals, Subway today has a network of 42,258 outlets in 107 countries. Subway sandwiches are made with a variety of gourmet breads that are baked fresh at each restaurant every day. In addition to their range of widely popular submarines, Subway also offers a variety of salads and breakfast options. The brand’s appeal as a restaurant chain that provides healthy and customised food options suited for the whole family is what makes Subway all the more popular among customers.
