TMC is proud to inform its members that Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) has joined its ranks as a Principal Financial Sponsor from November 2013. Union Bank will share the platform of principal sponsorship along with Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, another staunch believer in TMC’s vision and mission to enable best professional management practices. The exchanging of the MOU took place on 5 November 2013 at the Union Bank Head office between TMC’s key representatives with Deepal Abeysekera, President, Board of Management, Fayaz Saleem, President Emeritus of the Management Club and Anil Amarasuriya, Director/Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank.  Akantha Pandithasekera, Vice President, Treasury, Board of Management of TMC was also in attendance. Amarasuriya stated: “We are pleased to partner The Management Club to support their initiatives. Through this partnership we hope to add value and also provide support and empowerment to its members to uplift management practices.” Saleem expressed delight that a reputed bank such as Union Bank was joining the complement of TMC’s sponsors.  Abeysekera stated that he anticipated that the partnership would strengthen ties between the bank and TMC members to the benefit of both parties through certain plans of TMC. Union Bank of Colombo PLC is one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing banks focusing on the Small and Medium Enterprises with a branch network nearing 50 branches and has established a strong presence all over the island. The Management Club was set up in 2002 on the initiative of the Chartered Management Institute, UK – Sri Lanka Branch with the primary intention of providing professional managers with an opportunity to meet, interact, share experiences and continuously upgrade managerial practices and knowledge. TMC works through “Clubs” based in key towns.  Its principal Club, long based at the Galle Face Hotel, is now located at the premises of Excel World.  TMC Mt Lavinia would soon actively operate from Hotel Sapphire. TMC Kalutara holds base at the Hibiscus Beach Hotel and also at the Ran Mal, Moratuwa whilst TMC Negombo operates from the Camelot Beach Hotel. These bases provide professional managers plenty of opportunities to meet and network, whilst sharing knowledge of professional importance through continuous programs, workshops and seminars organised by the executive committees of the different clubs. An interesting feature is that managers from any TMC club are free to participate in each others’ programs by presenting their TMC identity, thereby actively networking and forming strong and useful bonds. The Management Club envisages a successful relationship with Union Bank and warmly welcomes it to the fold.
