Venora bags second international award in 2012

Venora International Projects (Pvt.) Ltd. was recently awarded the global award for ‘Perfection, Quality and Ideal Performance’ at the convention on TQCS (Total Quality Customer Satisfaction) which was held from 18 to 20 November 2012 in Rome, Italy, organised by the OMAC (Association of Other Ways Management and Consulting).

Chairman/Managing Director of the company Sagara Gunawardana received the award at the ceremony. More than 60 companies from 50 countries were awarded at the summit. This is the second international award Venora received in 2012. It was previously awarded the ‘Arch of Europe’ for quality and technology in the gold category at a ceremony in Frankfurt this year.

This prestigious international award is a great achievement for Venora at it is a testimony of their efforts to achieve constant improvements in technological development and quality, and their continuous struggle to improve their brand name.

It also provides the winning companies the opportunity to make their firms known on a multi-sector forum which provides a platform for the exchange of experiences, making of new commercial and professional contacts, and to find out about innovations, new technologies and markets.

OMAC was founded 18 years ago by Charbel S. Tabet, President and CEO of Otherways Int’l Research and Consultants, President and CEO of United PubliSalons Int’l, President and CEO of Telectra Int’l Research and Consultants, President of Association Otherways Management and Consulting Paris, and Secretary General of Otherways Management Association Club.

OMAC is a member of the American Management Association and is a member of the American Marketing Association. Otherways has quickly grown and expanded, with an offshore office established in Bahrain since January 1999.

Otherways Management and Consulting Association aims to provide necessary information for enterprises worldwide in order to promote their management systems, and communication and development. It focuses particularly on the themes of quality management, durable development, management by objectives and by projects, advice and control, planning, marketing, information systems and staff management.

The criteria for the award are based on reports carried out periodically by a marketing team through the Association Otherways Management and Consulting in Paris and other consulting firms in Europe.

The selection criteria for the Quality Summit are based on one or several of the concepts of customer satisfaction, leadership, continuing education and trading, business results, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 27000, ISO 22000, TQM and TQCS (Total Quality Customer Satisfaction Standards).

Venora International is one of the leading companies in the field of electrical engineering and telecommunications in Sri Lanka and operates under the tagline ‘Solution Providers for an Energised World’.

It has gained ICTAD: EM-1 category registered in 2007 and has maintained ISO 9001 quality certification from SGS, the international accredited organisation for their internal and onsite processes. Since 2003, the Chairman/Managing Director of the company, Sagara Gunawardana, has been the motivating force behind all these achievements, ably supported by an enthusiastic management team.

Venora has also received several local awards for their contributions to the industry. The company has several wings of operation such as projects, switchboard fabrication, telecom infrastructure installations, earthing, lightning and surge protection and power factor correction. Quality management is applied to all these divisions to enhance the total quality and the customer satisfaction.

VEnora’s achievements over the past ten years are commendable. The rate of expansion rate of the company is fast and therefore, the company needed more space within two years and finally decided to acquire a large complex in Piliyandala, at which they are currently based.
