Global Vinyl Ltd. (GVL) launched their improved homogenous vinyl carpet range at the Architect 2016 exhibition last week. The Architect 2016 event was held at BMICH from 18 to 22 February.

GVL is the pioneering vinyl flooring manufacturer in Sri Lanka with over 30 years of experience. Vinyl flooring is primarily intended for use in commercial and light commercial buildings. GVL Managing Director S. Kumaraswamy comments, “We are excited about this product launch. The competitive advantage we bring is that we can manufacture any colour, thickness and quantities within a short span of a few days unlike the importers who have to wait for months and have limited quantities and choices.”

Homogeneous vinyl flooring has a uniform structure and composition from the top to the bottom as there is no separate backing layer. It is frequently installed in healthcare facilities because of its superior durability and high resistance to wear, cuts and stains. Additionally the seams can be welded to seal out germs and moisture. The product is also popular in Sri Lanka with factory floors, warehouses, offices, cafes, garages, gym, etc.

“Though typically available in 2.0 mm thickness, we can really go on to make whatever thickness the customer wants. Add in the properties of it being anti static, anti fungal, water resistant and non flammable, you’ve got one great flooring product for any situation,” states GVL General Manager Sepala Senaratne.

As Colombo is in the midst of a construction boom, the demand for vinyl flooring is set to increase per the company expectations. The company also undertakes laying of the vinyl carpet rolls using the seam welding method. “The response has been very positive. There were several inquiries and some have even committed orders,” said GVL Sales Manager Sudharshan.
