Kiron Shenoy with TMC BOM President Murali Prakash
Kiron Shenoy a senior member of TMC Colombo was the speaker at the second program in the series of Members Speak which was held on 20 July. Kiron Shenoy is an Indian based in Sri Lanka. He has nearly four decades of senior and top management exposure/experience in India and Sri Lanka. At present he is the CEO of Toppan Forms and the Consultant at the EWIS Group. He spoke on ‘Work-Life Balance: A practical way forward….’
As per him it is not easy to identify as to how many people are suffering due to workaholic disorders but it is clear that this imbalance has come to stay. People often complain that their job is killing them, or that they’re working themselves to death. Many people often talk about wanting to change the amount of work/life balance they have. They feel they spend too much time working and not enough time enjoying the good things that life has to offer.
Kiron in action
These very same people may be smart in their jobs, working in roles that are creative and strategic. However, they may also be unable to see that they can use their skills in the context of their own lives to shift it to a place which offers a greater level of work/life balance. Work and life are major two aspects of life that are the two sides of a see-saw. A balance makes life tranquil! It takes you, as Kiron says: From distress to eustress!
A section of the keen listeners
He spoke on how to manage the wheel of life which encompasses work, family/friends, Finances, Health, Spirituality and recreation. Work Life balance can be done by letting go of guilt or even by compartmentalising ones’ lives. He emphasised on de- cluttering and organising all aspects of life and learning to say “no” in many odd circumstances in life. Kiron interspersed his talk with a lot of examples and anecdotes from his personal life. The talk was well attended by the TMC Members and their friends. It ended with an active Q & A session.
