Elysian Mirissa project
Elysian Mirissa, developed by Elysian Realty Ltd. as Sri Lanka’s one and only luxury beachfront apartment project in Mirissa, continues unhindered due to the power-house of project partners and their dedication to ensure an optimised structure, complemented by minimalistic design architecture and climate/ weather safety materials.
As the first high-rise building on Mirissa’s beachfront, 25 metres from the coastline, the project has been undertaken by a host of industry titans: Architect – Milroy Perera Associates; Contractor – Weerasooriya Builders Ltd.; and Structural Integrity – Design and Structural Consortium Ltd. With the three parties working in unison to ensure the cohesion of quality stabilised design and function, whilst ensuring architectural and design perfection.
Design and Structural Consortium Managing Director Nuwan Senaka Wanigaratne speaking on the unique beachfront project noted: “As the Structural Design partners for the project, we have been involved from the very inception. With Elysian Mirissa we’ve done our best work, using optimum concrete and reinforcement. We achieved this using high end structural software, utilising in-depth knowledge of coastal high-rises.
Wanigaratne began his illustrious career in construction in 1996 – honing his skills whilst at NCD Consultants and as the Chief Engineer for Maga.
The structural design of Elysian Mirissa has been optimised for safety, hazard and adverse weather precautions, given its coastal location and proximity to the Indian Ocean, with reinforced structural integrity and stability. In particular, structural designs allow for seamless, minimalistic features and unique design facets, but also allows for functional design that controls the sway and deformation of the building in the long term, allowing for higher safety guards; use of large diameter single piles that allow for reduced concrete masses, and cleaner designs; and pre-stressed, post-tension slabs which maintain a clean, minimal, aesthetically pleasing design.
Under the purview of Wanigaratne, the Design & Structural Consortium was founded in 2015 and has become the number one structural design brand for high rise buildings, in Sri Lanka; forging a partnership with the University of Moratuwa and Meinhardt Group, Singapore. The company continues to work closely with Professor M.T.R. Jayasinghe and B.L. Tennakoon.
The Design and Structural Consortium has been at the helm of several iconic projects around Sri Lanka, including; residential apartment such as the 31-storey SkyGardens, the 48-storey Clearpoint Residencies, the 63-storey 606 The Address, the 40-storey Elements, Fairmount, Raintree Residencies; commercial projects; schools and universities; hospitals; art centres created using eco-friendly design and materials; temples; luxury hotels and villas; and several bridges around Sri Lanka.
