The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom facilitated an interactive investor forum organised by the Research and Intelligence Unit (RIU) to promote the real estate market in Sri Lanka. The event was held at the High Commission on 17 May.
A message from Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera was read out at the event. The Acting High Commissioner Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, in his welcome address, highlighted the economic strengths and challenges that the country is facing at present. He also spoke on opportunities for potential investors who wish to invest in Sri Lanka.
A presentation on ‘Investing in Sri Lanka’s real estate’ was made by Pradeep Moraes, Chairman of the Condominium Developers Association of Sri Lanka; while a presentation on ‘Recent market trends from a design perspective’ was made by Nilesh De Silva, CEO of KDS Architects Sri Lanka and by Shehana Brahammanage of Prime Lands Group. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion.
The event was attended by a gathering of around 80 invitees representing different sectors in the United Kingdom. David Campbell Bannerman, Member of the European Parliament addressed the gathering as a guest of honour.
