S-lon Lanka Ltd., which is a subsidiary of The Capital Maharaja Group, recently ventured beyond the local market by exporting a consignment of roofing sheets and accessories to neighboring India.

There are several factors contributing to making S-lon roofing sheets the best in the market. They’re resistant to discoloration, fungus, do not require cleaning, look aesthetic and last longer. The sheets are also able to filter out heat significantly, offering coolness and comfort for tropical establishments and households. This feature makes S-lon roofing sheets particularly appealing to the Indian market, where temperature levels have risen significantly over the past decades. The roofing sheets can be easily installed due to being considerably lighter when compared with alternatives.

Commenting on the new export venture, Capital Maharaja Group Director S. C Weerasekera remarked: “At S-lon, we don’t make anything that is not good and safe to be used by our own loved ones. This is the very philosophy that incentivises us to better our products via relentless research and development. We don’t chase after certifications, we strive for excellence – in doing so, certifications are bestowed upon us because not only do we meet required quality stipulations, but we go beyond same.”

He added: “We take pride in being a Sri Lankan enterprise and as such, seeing the present turbulent period, we decided it was an appropriate time to make inroads into the foreign market in order to bring in much needed export revenue to stabilise the rupee. Also, India is a haven for opportunities as far as the construction sector is concerned and we look forward to a long, meaningful trade relationship with our neighbouring nation.”

He further commented on how S-lon operates on a bottom-up approach, meaning that perspectives from the grassroot level are critically assessed and valued, rather than driving only the directives set out by the top management.

S-lon roofing sheets do not contain radioactive or carcinogenic components and are fully recyclable at the end of their lifespan in compliance with the green environment protection requirement. S-lon’s fire resistance capability is a key highlight of the product. This is due to its Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate (ASA) compounds for which the sheets have been awarded the DN 4102 – 1 certification. This means a sheet encountering a naked flame would not spread but rather self-extinguish, guaranteeing safety for structure and subjects within.

The inner and outer surfaces of S-lon roofing sheets are corrosion and decay-resistant when compared with alternatives. The sheets come with a 10-year warranty period and a multitude of colour options to choose from. S-lon roofing sheets are available via dealers/hardware stores island-wide.
