The 37th Annual Sessions of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) are scheduled to be held from 20-24 February 2019 at the BMICH Colombo comprising a series of events including the prominent ‘A’19- Members’ Work and Trade Exhibition’ being held under this year’s theme ‘EMERGENCE: Entrepreneurial Architect’.

The ceremonial signing of the Memoranda of Understanding between SLIA and the sponsors for the 2018-2019 sessions was held at the Galadari Hotel last week.

A’19 - The Exhibition event will be followed by a virtual reality web event, where members from the trade and architects will be at a mutual electronic forum with their products and services presented at this legendary Sri Lankan Exhibition of Architects that is scheduled to be held in February 2019.

A’19 will be a shift away from the norm to a virtual e-exhibition where visitors can surf, compare and analyse services, materials and information of all products displayed in over 275 stalls along with a panel of more than 130 architects via the internet.

This event is one of the most important occasions of SLIA’s Annual Sessions since it has been customary to recognise the key partners of the SLIA Annual Sessions in which several prestigious companies joined hands with SLIA to facilitate the 37th Annual Session held in February 2019.

Holding on to the top spot for the last several years, Alumex Plc was the Strategic Sponsor whilst Nippon Paint Lanka Ltd. joined hands with SLIA as the Principal Sponsor. Ranjanas Ceramic Ltd. will serve as the Associate Sponsor with Naveen Ceramic Ltd. being the SLIA members’ Event Sponsor and Royal Ceramic Lanka Plc, Lanka Tiles Plc and Melwire Rolling Ltd. signing a Memorandum of Understanding with SLIA as the Event Sponsors for the 2018-2019 Annual Sessions.

These esteemed organisations have been SLIA partners for the Annual Sessions for a very long period and yet again added strength to the ‘A’19’ Exhibition along with the other events of the 37th Annual Sessions.

The event was chaired by SLIA President Archt. D. H. Wijewardene whilst Past President Archt. Rukshan Widyalankara, Senior Vice Presidents Archt. Veranjan Kurukulasuriya and Archt. Russell Dandeniya, Hony. Secretary Archt. Rohana Bandara Herath, Hony. Treasurer Archt. Salinda Rathugama, Hony. Assistant Secretary Archt. Michal Fonseka and Hony. Assistant Treasurer Archt. Migara Alwis were also present.
