Sri Lankan construction companies seek business opportunities in Ethiopia

A delegation from Major Constructors of Sri Lanka (MCSL) representing Sanken Overseas Ltd., Saw Engineering Ltd., Vee Power Ltd. and ELS Construction Ltd., had a business promotion mission in Ethiopia during the first week of November.

Under the patronage of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union Commission Sumith Dassanayake, a business development seminar was held at the premises of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Addis Ababa on 2 November, to introduce Sri Lankan companies to the Ethiopian construction industry. Over 15 participants representing major construction companies in Ethiopia participated at the event.

Welcoming the initiatives of the Sri Lankan construction industry to enter the Ethiopian market, Ambassador Dassanayake informed the gathering on the strength and high recognition that Sri Lankan companies have earned internationally. The Ambassador also briefed on the opportunities available for trade, tourism and foreign investments in Sri Lanka for Ethiopian investors.

MCSL CEO Madura Wijewickrama, Saw Engineering Chairman Atula Jayaratne, ELS Constructions Director Anura Vitanage, and Head of Administration of Sanken Overseas Ravindra Wijesooriya made presentations on their products and services to the audience.

President of the Construction Associations of Ethiopia, Ameha Sime, also addressed the gathering.

The Sri Lankan companies also had business meetings with their Ethiopian counterparts.
