Tamba Villas says good things are going fast

In 1824 a tea plant was smuggled to Ceylon by the British from China. 43 years, later in 1867, a British planter called James Taylor started the first tea plantation. This marked the beginning of the tea industry in Sri Lanka. Today Sri Lanka is the world’s fourth largest producer of tea, it employs over one million people and is one of the country’s main sources of foreign exchange.

In recognition of this history, Tamba Villas named all 37 of their villas after Tea Estates. Ferndale, Chalcot, Westward, Dorset, Beverly, Marlby, Norwood and Seafield – the names are all deeply evocative, with each conjuring up a place and time in Sri Lanka’s recent past. 

Tamba Villas is a collaboration between Shakticola and award-winning A D Lab, a Singaporean architectural firm focused on cutting edge residential projects, while STIX, another award-winning landscape designer designed the lush tropical gardens.
